About Valerie
Valerie has a strong background in environmental conservation and biology. She is an active volunteer with federal, state, and local environmental and research organizations, including the Jones Falls Watershed Association, the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy, the USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center, and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. She assists with projects that involve collecting stream quality data and with wildlife surveys and research.

Valerie writes and maintains
a blog about protecting our waterways, www.commonwaters.net.

In addition, she has worked to improve the lives of youth, and in support of artists and higher education.
