About Heart's Place Center

The Heart's Place Shelter is located in the basement of Saint John's Church, and is one of the few area shelters to allow men, women, and children at one facility, so that homeless families can stay together. The shelter is open from November through April, Sundays through Tuesdays. For more information on Heart's Place Shelter, click here.

Music

Old Man Brown

SoulFunk Locomotive

This 9-piece band is a Soul/Funk locomotive of harmony and groove and has performed all over the U.S. as well as in England, Scotland and Wales. OMB’s music is inspired by blues and rock legends such as Freddie King, The Meters, Bobby Bland, The Allman Brothers and Little Feat. With strong compositions, meticulous playing, inspired solos and skillful group improvisation, Old Man Brown offers up a refreshing contrast to the canned sounds of much popular rock music today. www.oldmanbrown.com

Sac Au Lait

Misfit Dixieland

Sac Au Lait is a group of misfits that play traditional and not-so-traditional dixieland jazz. Sac Au Lait has received an enthusiastic reception not only for their old school jazz style, but for bringing an irrepressible sense of fun and frolic to their shows. The Sac-Au-Lait, better known as the White Perch, is the official freshwater fish of the state of Louisiana, and Sac Au Lait blows traditional jazz and Dixieland into the 21st Century, weaving strands of jazz, swing, and country with authentic New Orleans sounds. http://www.myspace.com/sacaulaitband
